Pumpkin Carving Contest

2017 Fall Festival Celebration

The Exeter Community Services/Recreation Department will sponsor the 26th Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 4:30pm. The contest will be held at Mixter Park (corner of Pine & E Street). All Children 12 and under are eligible to participate. One parent/adult will be allowed to participate with each child in helping with the carving. The design MUST be the child’s own idea.

Age divisions for competitions will be as follows:
5 & under 6 – 7 years old 8 – 9 years old 10 – 12 years old

Judging will be in two categories: SPOOKIEST & MOST ORIGINAL

Children may enter any size pumpkin they wish. Children are responsible for providing their own pumpkin. If it can be arranged, the Recreation Dept. will have a few pumpkins for sale at the contest. Each child must also bring a plastic garbage bag or grocery bag and newspaper to help with the clean up. Each entrant will receive a participation ribbon. Awards will be given to the spookiest and most original in each age group. Registration forms will be provided at the contest.

No knives or degrading objects or comments are allowed as part of the design.
Carving will be from 4:30p.m. – 5:15p.m.
Judging will begin at 5:15p.m.

Shooting Arrest

Location: 400 Block South ‘G’ Street

Arrested:
1. Male Juvenile 14 years
2. Male Juvenile 17 Years

Details: On 8/28/17 at 6:08pm Officer were dispatched to the 400 block of South ‘G’ Street, regarding a report of gun shots. Upon arrival officers were advised two male occupants of a red Ford sedan had exited the vehicle and fired at least one gun shot towards a male adult victim who was no longer on scene. A short time later a call was made by the victim, who was following the vehicle, advising the suspects and vehicle were in the area of Spruce and Firebaugh. Exeter Officers responded to the area and attempted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, however, it failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect vehicle was pursued into the City of Lindsay near the intersection of Apia and Sweetbrier. The two male suspects were taken into custody with the assistance of deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and Officers from the Lindsay Police Department. The vehicle was discovered to have been reported stolen from the City of Lindsay. The Male victim received medical attention from Exeter District Ambulance and later at Kaweah Delta Medical Center for nonlife threatening injuries. Both male juvenile suspects were later booked in the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility for multiple charges including attempted homicide, possession of a stolen vehicle, and felony evading. The firearm used in the shooting was recovered and the incident is believed to be gang related. Anyone with information relevant to this case is urged to contact the Exeter Police Department.

Animal Control

The animal control division provides animal control services, municipal code enforcement, cruelty investigations and temporary sheltering services for the City of Exeter. Animal Control number 559.592.5262

Animals picked up by the animal control officer are temporarily held in an indoor / outdoor kennel facility located at the city’s Corporation Yard before they are transferred to the Tulare Animal Shelter in Tulare, 3817 S. K Street. The phone number for Tulare Animal Shelter is 559.685.5047. The City of Exeter has an animal sheltering services agreement with the City of Tulare.
