Animal Control Services Notice

As of November 1, 2018,
due to the retirement of a longtime City employee and to provide continuous service, The City of Exeter will begin contracting out Animal Control and Shelter Services (Shelter services formerly at the City of Tulare) with the City of Visalia Animal Services Division whose mission is:

  • Provide Animal Control Officer services (patrol and service calls)
  • Promote and ensure public health and safety
  • Facilitate responsible pet ownership
  • Humanely and responsibly care for the animals in their care
  • Provide prompt and courteous service
  • Provide education and positive enforcement efforts

Animal Care Center Hours of Operation:
Wednesday through Friday, 12 – 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 12 – 5 p.m.

(Due annually for the period July 1 – June 30, $10 for altered dogs, $20 for unaltered)

Stray cats are not accepted at the Animal Care Center, for injured stray cats you may call (559) 713-4957

What will typical response time be?

There will be a dedicated Animal Control Officer for the cities of Exeter and Farmersville during normal operating hours Monday – Friday. Response times should be within 15-30 minutes depending on availability.
