CITY ADMINISTRATOR

THE POSITION:

The City of Exeter is seeking a City Administrator who has a strong and diverse background in a municipality, is approachable and affable, and has a demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and face challenges with confidence and transparency.  It is expected that the City Administrator will proactively assess City operations and identify creative opportunities for budgetary and operational efficiencies. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, economics, finance, or a closely related field and five (5) years of extensive management experience in government administration or management with additional years of public sector experience at supervisory levels or below expected and preferred.  (Master’s Degree is desirable).

COMPENSATION/BENEFIT PACKAGE:

Salary: Negotiable depending upon qualifications.

Benefits: The City offers an excellent benefit package including CalPERS retirement (2.0% @ 62 for “New” CalPERS members and 3.0% @ 60 for “Classic.”) City contributes 5% into a deferred compensation program for this position. City pays a portion of the employee and dependent coverage costs of group medical. An opt-out plan is also available. The City provides a self-funded dental and vision plan. Life Insurance – based on annual salary. Short and Long-Term Disability Insurance. Leave and holidays include: Management Leave: Forty (40) Hours per year (prorated based on date of hire); Sick Leave: Twelve (12) days per year (earned on a pay period by pay period basis); Vacation Leave: Sixteen (16) days per year.  Additional days based on service years.  (Buy-back option available); Holidays:  Eleven (11) holidays and two (2) half-day holidays observed annually; and Additional Leave:  Employees receive one (1) day for birthday credit.  In addition, a city vehicle and cell phone reimbursement of $45 per month is provided.  Optional benefits include additional insurance policies, voluntary Deferred Compensation Program (457 Plans) and Flexible Benefit Program (IRS Section 125 Plan)
